A simple reflection at home on the day of a funeral you can't attend
One of the sad realities of our new 'socially distanced' world and the current restrictions on movement, mean it may not be possible for everyone to attend a funeral, whether for family, friend of neighbour.
Many are facing this in the current crisis, so these two short reflections, one from the Church of England and one from the Methodist Church have been specially written to help you say your formal goodbyes while remaining in your home. You can also use material from the URC Virtual Funerals booklet.
You may wish to use these services alone or with those who share your home, and you might like to invite others to take part at the same time from their home, via Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp or telephone.
When this time of social distancing is over, there may well be an opportunity to meet together at a
special time of remembering and thankfulness. Your memories now can be part of that experience
when the time comes.
