Celebrating Women and Mothers
All-Age Activity: March 2021
International Women's Day is celebrated on 8 March and Mothering Sunday this year is on 14 March.
We are pleased to offer two colouring-in based activities for the young at heart designed to help us pray for the strong women in our lives.
- Prayer for Women - is suitable for International Women's Day.
- Prayers of Mothers — Mothering Sunday can be a difficult time for those who have lost their mother, lost children or have unfulfilled dreams of motherhood — this version can be used to celebrate all those who love and care for others in our churches.
Both resources can be downloaded by clicking on the PDF links.
A prayer for International Women's Day
God of all, God of hope,
We pray for women and girls today.
That they will be all they can be.
Give us courage to speak and work
For equality and justice
Until the earth is filled
With righteousness and love.
Amen.
A Prayer for Mothering Sunday
Loving God,
Thank you for mums and children
and for all the joy of family life.
Be with those who are grieving because they have no mother;
Be close to those who are struggling because they have no children;
Be near to those who are sad because they are far apart from those they love.
Let your love be present in every home,
And help your church to have eyes to see and ears to hear the needs of all who come.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
