Methodists have collected statistical data for many years. Annual gathering of local church statistics and triennial Statistics for Mission reports to Conference have helped the Church to recognise areas of growth and decline and get a useful snap-shot of the Methodist people. This allows leaders in the Church at local, District and connexional levels to make informed decisions about what they do and how they do it.
